SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Administration (3037) PDF Print E-mail

Course Overview

The SUSE Linux Administration course (Course 3037) teaches students basic SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) administration skills. These skills, along with those taught in the SUSE Linux Fundamentals (Course 3036) and Advanced SUSE Linux Administration (Course 3038) courses, prepare students to take the Novell Certified Linux Professional (Novell CLP) certification Practicum Exam.

Students perform the following SLES 9 administrative tasks:

- Update and monitor a SLES 9 server
- Perform administrative tasks with YaST
- Manage users and groups
- Provide basic system security
- Manage the Linux file system
- Manage software installation
- Manage system initialization, processes, and services
- Connect the server to the network
- Provide basic network services (such as printing and web access)
- Remotely access a SLES 9 server

These are administrative skills common to an entry-level administrator or help desk technician in an enterprise environment. Students work with multiple lab exercises to help them practically apply course concepts and reinforce their proficiency with features and management utilities in SLES 9. On the final day of instruction, students will perform Live Fire exercises that test their SLES 9 administration skills.
